Attracting and retaining good wage paying jobs for the citizens of Central Vermont.
CVEDC is one of twelve nonprofit regional development corporations in the State of Vermont.
We were organized in 1976 to provide impetus for the region’s economic development. We maintain a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of local business owners, State representatives, lenders, and municipal officials. Our funding primarily comes from the State of Vermont, our municipalities, and dues-paying members of CVEDC.

Ways We Help
Economic development is often seen as an entity outside the scope of the “little guys,” but the truth is, small businesses are who we directly serve most often, always right in our backyard. We partner with you as well as a variety local organizations to provide you the assistance & programs you need to ensure your business thrives and continues to grow in a sustainable and equitable way—often at low or no cost to you.
BUSINESS + GROWTH DEVELOPMENT
Have a new idea for your new or existing business? We’d love to hear it! Our staff is prepared to review your business plans & assess feasibility with you one time or whenever you need an objective eye to help you see the forest for the trees. Just as well, sustainable growth is sometimes a tricky path here in Vermont and we can guide you.
RELOCATION
Looking to bring your business to Vermont or expand in your town? Our finger is on the pulse of new-build & commercial options in what can often be a competitive market. We offer access to specific listings and an insider connection to property owners in the region.
NONTRADITIONAL BUSINESS LOANS
If you are looking for working capital or a smaller loan to get your existing business to the next level, let’s talk. We offer federally-backed loans through the USDA’s Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program (RMAP). An added value to borrowing with us is an annual allotment of grant-funded technical assistance. Check out our loan fund page or get in touch.
REGULATORY ASSISTANCE + EDUCATION
The world of acronyms, local/state/federal regulations & programs is vast—and sometimes mind-numbing. We’re here to do the heavy lifting of distilling & sifting that info into useful bites—with as much density & acronyms as you’d like.
WORKFORCE TRAINING + DEVELOPMENT
Looking to support your employees with furthered education and training? Whether it’s for a new piece of software or to help an employee advance, we are ready to connect you to a variety of programs that can offset the cost of your very worthwhile investment.
