On Day 4,015 of Changing the World . . . An Update from Tyler McNaney
The story of Tyler McNaney’s Vermont-based businesses, Filabot and more recently Massive Dimension, began in a way that some of us may now see as familiar territory for clever technology innovations: a popular Kickstarter in 2011 introduced their filament long before 3D printers had made their way into labs and households worldwide. Tyler’s TED talk also introduced considerations on the waste loop in this burgeoning industry.

Okay, so some of this may be familiar territory for those who love new tech and start-ups. Charismatic leader Tyler McNaney wasted no time popping up onto Forbes’ 30 under 30 list at age 25, and taking advantage of opportunities geared at young start-ups. But what he did next is not so often part of this story: Tyler and his Vermont-based team of eight worked for the next 11 years to grow and expand their work, taking on clients from Google to NASA, and proving they were more than a short-lived start-up.

Most recently, Tyler’s projects arrived in an unexpected and coveted location—the holiday window at New York City’s Louis Vuitton. Massive Dimension created a 3D printer which is working at all times from the luxury store on 660 Madison Avenue to create custom letters for the Louis Vuitton 200 Trunks exhibit.

The project was rapid fire, completing in only 19 days, and will remain in Louis Vuitton until early 2023. It’s been an exciting 11 years for Tyler and his work and we are so proud to count him among the entrepreneurs in Central Vermont who are forging pathways to new creations and inventions that will shape all of our lives and futures.
